Being Bold For Christ

Jesus told the disciples of the trials they would face for preaching  in His name.
This week on In Touch , Dr. Stanley's son Andy Stanley preached an outstanding sermon  on the apostles in Acts and how they prayed for boldness to continue preaching Jesus Christ to the world though they were persecuted. This is basis of the message he taught.

Matthew 10:17
17“Be on your guard against men; they will hand you over to the local councils and flog you in their synagogues. 18On my account you will be brought before governors and kings as witnesses to them and to the Gentiles. 19But when they arrest you, do not worry about what to say or how to say it. At that time you will be given what to say, 20for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.

In Acts Chapter five the apostles were persecuted and flogged for preaching in His name just as Jesus prophesied earlier in the book of Matthew. Though they were beaten within an inch of their lives the apostles rejoiced and continued preaching the Word of God.

 Acts 5:41:42

41The apostles left the Sanhedrin, rejoicing because they had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the Name. 42Day after day, in the temple courts and from house to house, they never stopped teaching and proclaiming the good news that Jesus is the Christ.

Jesus told them in the past to count their persecution as a blessing and that's exactly what they did.

  Matthew Chapter 5:10-12

10Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11“Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
