Vanessa Hudgens
About a week or two go, I flipped through the pages of the October issue of Allure and found an interesting article on the High school Musical star Vanessa Hudgens. I usually just skim through the issues for makeup and hair ideas , but as I am a High School Musical fan I just had to read the interview. In the article, Vanessa speaks about some of the challenges of being an actress of multiple ethnic backgrounds. Her mother is from the Phillipines and is of Chinese-Filipino-Spanish descent; her father is Irish-English and Native American. Vanessa , who checks Pacific Islander and Caucasian on all forms , says that she was never Latina , Chinese, or Caucasian enough for casting agents. It was an interesting read , and put things into perspective for me. Subconsciously, I think that sometimes the only mixed race people that can relate to my experiences are ones that are black and white descent. Now my outlook is slightly different. While our experience may not be all the same, I believe biracial people of all backgrounds can relate in lots of ways.
