People using God as a reason not to marry or date interracially

I'll always remember the day a young friend and coworker of mine, told me she was contemplating an interracial relationship. I was sixteen or seventeen years old at the time; a time when all the deep realities of race seemed to come at me from every direction. I remembering listening intently as she told me how much she really liked this black guy and  she just wasn't sure what to do. She babbled on," I know it says in the Bible we're not supposed to date outside our race but........".  I stayed calm on the outside as I always do, but on the inside I was one indignant young girl. I began to start off with saying it wasn't in the Bible and that's as far as it went. We got distracted and our conversation went off in other directions. I never did get my chance to say to her what I intended and later, from time to time, I thought about our conversation. It truly bothered me. My whole life I had been raised to believe in Jesus Christ as my Savior. For someone to tell me that God was against interracial marriage, was to condemn my whole existence on this earth. I knew the Lord wasn't this way and frustrated me that anyone would use the Lord  to justify their own injustices towards others. There's nothing worse than someone twisting God's scripture around so that it supports their own sinful attitude or agenda.

So what's the scripture that is commonly misused to prove this?
Corinthians 2 chapter 6:14-16

14Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? 15What harmony is there between Christ and Belialb? What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? 16What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people.”

A racist will always stop at the word "yoked" and leave off the end of the verse. It says don't be unequally yoked with UNBELIEVERS, not don't be unequally yoked with another race. In the first place, when racists use this verse, they are implying that other races are unequal to whites. This really shows how unchristian the person who is saying it is. So what is an unbeliever? It is someone who doesn't believe in Christ as their Savior. And, I will check up on it, but I take this verse to also apply to other close relationships we may become involved in throughout our lives.

Now in the Old Testament there are scriptures where the Lord commands the Israelites not to intermarry. Here again there is a deeper reason behind this command which has nothing to do whatsoever with skin color. The Lord told the Israelites  not to intermarry because they were marrying pagan peoples who worshiped idols. The Lord was angered by this because , as a result, the Jews began falling away from the Lord. They began worshiping idols and living in an ungodly manner.

The bottom line is: if you want to be racist and judge people by superficial standards then go ahead. Just don't use the Lord as your excuse.
